Museet for Religiøs Kunst - Religious art

The fact that today there is an art museum in Lemvig, which as its special area has the religious art, stems from the large decoration of Lemvig church, which the visual artist Bodil Kaalund made 1976-81.

The artist's collaboration with the local population led to many conversations about the nature of art and about its role and relationship to church and religion.

The Museum of Religious Art is a modern art museum focusing on changing special exhibitions of contemporary and older art from both Denmark and abroad.

The museum's beautiful location just a stone’s throw from the Limfjord makes a visit truly special. From the café and the museum's children's corner, visitors can enjoy the stunning view of the fjord, Lemvig Harbour, and the town.

The museum’s rotating special exhibitions range from young, promising artists exploring life’s big questions to older works centered on religion and mythology, as well as art from and about Greenland. In addition, the permanent collection exhibition showcases the breadth and development within religious art.
