Øgle med æg
Lizard with Eggs, (ØGLE MED ÆG). Water art made of granite by Jun-Ichi Inoue, 1979. Hjørring
This long-necked animal guards its egg.
This fountain is a classical example of the artist’s fantastic imaginary creatures.
The Japanese-Danish sculptor Jun-Ichi Inoue's granite sculpture is an abstract. It does not intend to depict any thing in particular, but as often happens associations are often made in a definite direction.
The maternal lizard stretches her long neck so she can keep a watchful eye over her clutch of two eggs lying in their nest close by.
Jun-Ichi Inoue has used different types of granite and masonary techniques which have enlivened the sculpture and added to its dynacisim.
Jun-Ichi Inoue was born and grew up in Japan, maybe the depiction of the lizard with her eggs is one of his childhood fantasies?
