Vigsø - Beacon
At Vigsø east of Hanstholm in Thy you will find one of the characteristic sea marks - a beacon.
Together with the beacons in Gl. Skagen, Løkken, Bøgsted Rende, Stenbjerg, Vedersø Klit, Husby Klit, Årgab, Haurvig, Kærgård and Ringebjerge, the beacon in Vigsø is protected.
The 12-meter-high, three-legged structures of iron and wood were erected in 1884-85 as landmarks for the sailors so that they could confirm their position on the nautical chart.
All the beacons along Jutland's west coast are different.
